Professor Curiosity

Two books packed with fun characters and silly stories for children in support of 2nd Acomb St Stephen’s Scouts Group.

Children’s author and parent of two energetic little boys, Dave Magill, is pledging all profits from two of his children’s books to 2nd Acomb St Stephen’s Scouts Group. Seeing his own children thrive at the group has been wonderful so the decision to offer this support was an easy one.

The two books, written for his eldest son, follow Noah Fisher and his cousin Esme on adventures through their childhood. They meet strange characters and experience surprising and amazing things as they solve crime and solve mysteries.

In Professor Curiosity Saves Christmas Noah discovers that Santa has been kidnapped by a rival toy maker. With Christmas hanging in the balance, can Noah and Esme save Christmas? With the help of some very famous and not-so famous people they set off to do just that.

Professor Curiosity versus Ermentrude Glock follows Noah and Esme as they try to save Esme’s football team from sabotage. With lots of very strange things happening to the school team can they follow the clues and get things back to normal? Can Noah be a hero for a second time?

“I wrote these books because my own son once said to me that he had not seen someone with a brain like his in any of the books he had read. Noah is basically my son with another name. These are books about a young boy, his curious brain and his very talented cousin. I hope in reading them children will laugh and have fun but also realise that they are brilliant just as they are.

As a child I attended uniformed groups similar to Scouts and they filled my childhood with joy as well as a safe place and group of friends outside of school which I often found difficult. If the sales of these little books can help children experience the joys I did as a child, and that I see my own children experiencing at Scouts, I will be delighted”

The books are available primarily via amazon but also at other online retailers for just £6.99 and 100% of the profit will go towards the work of the Scouts Group.

Our group has 130 members between 4 and 18 years old with 33 adult volunteers.  It has sections for Squirrels (age 4-6), Beavers (6-8), Cubs (8-11), Scouts (10-14) and Explorers (14-18) meeting weekly, with waiting lists for most sections.

We are run entirely by volunteers who give their time in many different ways, from being leaders running the meetings and events, to supporting the Group as trustees, or just helping out occasionally. All our volunteers receive the training they need to fulfil their roles, giving up their own time for the benefit of our children and young people.

Like all Scout Groups, Acomb has seen an increase in demand from young people since the pandemic, so we are also appealing for new helpers to help us create more exciting opportunities for our young people now.  If you can help, either regularly or just occasionally, please visit our website www.2ndacombscoutgroup.co.uk or contact [email protected]

The more adult volunteers we get, the more young people we can welcome into Scouting. We look forward to hearing from you.
